The new Wigtownshire Junior Development Plan is going very successfully with between 17-24 Junior Golfers aged between 12-18 attending the monthly coaching days organised and ran by PGA Professional Stuart Fisher. We so far have held three coaching days and the July session is organised for Tuesday 13th July. The plan behind the Development Coaching is to get as many juniors involved and playing golf no matter what ability level we simply want to increase participation which has unfortunately been on the decline for years. We have a great variety of players from complete beginners to low handicappers all working together. Each session has a different theme usually doing coaching stations in the morning working on full swing, short game, putting etc followed by team events on the course in the afternoon encouraging team work and leadership skills. The aim is to continue to grow this group and build a Performance Group in 2022 for the players who are more competitive and want to get to the next level. We have planned one coaching day per month from April-September with a final session in October taking the kids to Turnberry to experience the world class facilities on offer.
