It is with regret the Executive has to report the death of Tom Bartlett. Tom was the President of the Association in 2006 and served on the Executive for many years as the Coaching Convenor and latterly as the Development Officer procuring much needed finance for Junior coaching.

As Coaching Convenor he formulated a policy that engaged the services of professionals, including golfers, mental performance and fitness. This revolutionary method was his greatest legacy to golf in South of Scotland as it was muh ahead of its time

As Development Officer he obtained sponsorship and coaching facilities for Junior coaching from Gillespie Leisure at Brighouse Bay and started the Gillespie Classic to obtain more funding.

He was instrumental in getting The South of Scotland entry to the Northern Counties League which has given his proteges  valuable experience and encouraged many to win national events and represent their country.

He will always be remembered as a very able and competent golfer, a conscientious and hard working member of committee and a very able President, a position he filled with immense energy and flair.

He was a man of duty, integrity and strong principles and will be sadly missed by his large circle of friends for his friendly demeanour and knowledge of the game of golf.

His funeral will take place at 11.00 am on Wednesday 24 April at Arthur Jardines, Terregles Street, Dumfries
