The annual match between South and Cumbria for the Solway Trophy took place on Sunday 31 March in freezing cold conditions with a breeze from the east making it feel even colder. The course was in good condition despite a lack of growth and a credit to the greenkeeping staff. The result was a convincing win for the visitors by eleven and a half matches to six and a half.
The only winners in the morning foursomes were Southerness pairing of Dave King and Ross Murray. In the afternoon singles Kyle McClung (Wigtownshire County), Rory Thompson (D&G), Neil Hamilton (Powfoot) and Ross Murray recorded well earned victories and Dean Armstrong (Lochmaben), Clark Riddick (Southerness) and Craig Hill (Dumfriesshire Golf Centre) earned a half point.
