The Shamash Trophy, the final major competition of the season, was played at Brighouse bay on Sunday 20th September. The forecast was for rain in the afternoon but luck was with us and it remained dry until the very end of play. 21 competitors took to the course, which was in very good condition. By the end of the 2nd round there was a tie for first place with Iain Thomson, (Powfoot) and Martin McNae (Lochmaben) both returning rounds of 75 in the morning and afternoon. The resulting 3 hole playoff was narrowly won by Iain Thomson.
The South of Scotland Golfers’ Association wish to thank Gillespie Leisure for hosting the event and Tom Gillespie for presenting the prizes.
