SCOTTISH BOYS OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

The Scottish Boys Open Championship was held at West Kilbride, Ayrshire from 10 – 12 April 2019 and attracted boys under 18 years of age from all over Europe. The South of Scotland was represented by Taylor Kerr (Thornhill)).

Taylor produced a very steady first round of one under par 70 with birdies at 3 and 18 and a dropped shot at 15 and was lying tied eighth. In the second round another 70 with an eagle at 3 and birdies at 7 and 12 were offset by bogies at 11, 15 and 18. His total of 140 left him tied eleventh and all to play for on the final day.

His third round par 71 consolidated his position. One birdie at 3 and two bogies going out were followed by two birdies at 11 and 14 and one dropped shot at 10. After the first nine in the fourth round he was standing at two under par but then disaster struck coming home. The back nine had not been kind to him all week but two bogies at 12 and 16, a double bogey at 18 and a 10 at the treacherous 13 was his undoing. To his credit he also had birdies at 14 and 17 and finished on 288 and tied 24th.
