The final group match of this years Scottish Area Team Championship for the South Mens team was against Angus at Southerness. Both teams still had a chance of winning the group and progressing to the finals weekend at Powfoot. Southerness was again in excellent condition and provided a fantastic links test for both the teams.
Taylor Kerr (Thornhill)
Cameron Gray (Southerness)
Mitchell Cowie (Dumfries & County)
Andrew Kerr (Southerness)
Iain Rae (Dalbeattie)
Michael Grunwell (Dumfries & Galloway)
Angus got off to a great start by winning all 3 of the morning foursomes matches leaving the South an uphill task to get anything from the match. The stronger wind in the afternoon seemed to help the South Team and they came out on top in the singles claiming 4.5 points to 1.5 points leaving the match tied. There were wins for Taylor Kerr, Cameron Gray, Mitchell Cowie and Iain Rae and a battling half point from Team Captain Michael Grunwell.
The tied match meant that Ayrshire progressed to the finals weekend after their win over Dumbartonshire.
