Douglas Borland (Southerness) took advantage of the unavailability of David Brodie (Newton Stewart) to increase his lead in the Order of Merit table at the South Match Play Championships at Powfoot on Sunday 26 August. He won in style and now leads David by 120 points.
Clark Riddick (Southerness), Mike Grunwell (D&G) and Chris Corbett (D&G) of the chasing pack also played well and closed the gap on David but it looks now as if Douglas can only lose the title with three counting events to go.
The next event is the Maxwell Trophy at Kirkcudbright on Sunday 2 September followed by the Lennox Trophy at Lochmaben on Saturday 8 September.
