Greig Blayney (Southerness) moved up from tied 54th to 15th in the South of Scotland Golfers’ Association Order of Merit after his win in the Douglas Maxwell Trophy at Kirkcudbright on Sunday 3 September. His two good rounds of 70, 72 and total of 142 won him the trophy from Clark Riddick (Southerness) by 7 shots. Clark moved up two places to 6th with his second place finish.
Last year’s winner David Brodie (Newton Stewart) consolidated his slender lead in the Order of Merit by taking third place to Michael Grunwell’s (D&G) fourth and now leads Michael by 55 points. It is looking like a two-horse race but Chris Corbett (D&C) and Kyle McClung (Wigtownshire County) still have an outside chance of upsetting the odds if they perform to their potential in the next events.
1 David Brodie (Newton Stewart) 495 points
2 Michael Grunwell (D&G) 440
3 Fraser Hughes (Newton Stewart) 360
4= Chris Corbett (D&G) 300
4= Kyle McClung (Wigtownshire County) 300
6 Clark Riddick (Southerness) 280
7 Colin Hamilton (Stranraer) 220
8 Martin McNae (Lochmaben) 215
9 Alan Birdsall (D&C) 205
10 Ross Murray (Southerness) 185
The next counting event is the Lennox Trophy at Lochmaben on Saturday 9 September and then the MacRobert Salver at Stranraer the following Saturday.
