For the last match of the 2018 season in the Northern Counties Federation League, South Juniors were able to field a very experienced team against Durham Juniors at Lochmaben on Thursday 9 August. Three of the boys were playing their last game for the juniors, being too old next year, and were determined a victory was essential. The South Senior Championship was held at Wigtownshire County Golf Club on Wednesday 1 August on a dreadful day for weather with a strong breeze all day accompanied by heavy rain in the afternoon for the later starters with the wind in their faces for the back nine. On Monday 23 July 2018 an inexperienced South junior team played a Northern Counties League match against Northumberland Juniors at Bedlingtonshire Golf Club. The undulating, tree lined course was in superb condition with hard, fast fairways and greens and the weather was sunny and very hot. NCF CHAMPIONSHIPS

An eight-man team from each of the four competing Counties, Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland and South of Scotland contested their championship at Powfoot Golf Club on Wednesday 1 August. The format was the best six scores from the morning round and the afternoon round with the lowest aggregate determining the winners. After the recent rains the course was in immaculate condition with the greens true and fast. The weather was a strong breeze from the south in the morning accompanied by heavy rain in the afternoon. The Junior team crossed the Pennines for the second time in a week, this time to play Durham Juniors on Friday 27 July at Tyneside Golf Club. The day was warm but overcast with the threat of thunderstorms all day. The tree lined course was undulating with bone hard fairways and greens, a challenge the South boys were getting used to this summer. On Thursday 26 July 2018, 6-man teams of juniors representing Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire gathered at a sunny Kirkcudbright Golf Course for their annual competition for the Fraser Shield. The format was to be scratch stroke play with the best four scores from each County to count towards the team total. The team with the lowest total would be the winners. Following the Brotherston Trophy at Dumfries and County on Sunday 22 July, Douglas Borland (Southerness) retains top spot in the Order of Merit by virtue of his win in the Sutherland Chalice at Dumfries and Galloway on 8 July.
