JUNIOR ORDER OF MERIT

The Junior Order of Merit Competition came to a conclusion for 2017 with the results from the Junior Jamboree on Friday 27 October. Points are gained by competing and finishing high up the leaderboard in the Junior Open Competitions at Clubs throughout the Area during the season. This is a good way for boys and girls to experience playing on other courses and furthers their development.

The Girls Handicap Section was retained by Ellie Harkness (Lochmaben) who won three competitions during the season.

In the Under 18 Scratch Section, Mitchell Cowie (D&C) just failed by 5 points to catch Iain Rae (Dalbeattie). Iain’s 4th place in the Jamboree being enough to secure overall victory. Third was William Squires (Kirkcudbright) and fourth, Taylor Kerr (Sanquhar).

Ciaran Howat (D&C), 60 points clear of Kaleb Johnston (Portpatrick) and Sam Mitchell (Portpatrick) before Southerness, comfortably maintained his lead to win the Under 15 Scratch Section. Russell Kingsley (Lochmaben) was fourth.

In the Boys Handicap category Charlie Maxwell( Lochmaben) took the honours by virtue of his victory in the handicap section of the Jamboree with a total of 100 points. Ciaran Howat (D&C) was second and Russell Kingsley (Lochmaben) third. There was a three-way tie for fourth between Patrick Innes (Kirkcudbright), Ollie Hogg (D&G) and Mitchell Cowie (D&C).
