The 2016 South of Scotland Junior Order of Merit was concluded recently at the Junior Jamboree hosted by Southerness Golf Club.
Although not performing at his best Nathan Watson collected enough points to secure the under 18 scratch order of merit trophy for the second year running. Cameron Gray finished in second place and William Squires made it a clean sweep for Kirkcudbright Golf Club finishing in third.
The final event was crucial in deciding the under 15 scratch and the boys handicap competitions. With Lewis Cheetham from Dumfries & County taking top points in both categories it meant he secured both titles. Valiant efforts from Callum McMillan (Kbt), David Sharp (D&C) and Glen Irvine (D&G) meant the scratch competition was incredibly close. Fraser McFadyen from Dumfries & Galloway collected good points at Southerness in the handicap section but couldn’t quite catch Ciaran Howat(D&C) who finished ten points ahead of him overall. There was no stopping young Ellie Harkness (Lochmaben) from defending her girls title.
