Saturday 21 June dawned overcast and cool at Brighouse Bay for the annual playing of the Gillespie Classic. As the day progressed the weather improved and the later starters got some lovely sunshine. The course, which has shown great progress in previous years, was in perfect condition and beautifully presented. A great credit to all the greenkeeping staff. Thirty one pairings from old men, ladies and juniors came from all over the region and beyond to take part and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in playing in a fun event with a variety of skills competitions. The scoring certainly reflected the super condition of the course and resulted in numerous ties for the prizes which kept the organisers on their toes all afternoon. The major prize winners were:-

Best Ladies Singles: Diane McDonald (Dumfries & County) 32 points
