Eight-man teams from Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire competed for the Drennan Salver in a match play competition at Brighouse Bay Golf Club on Sunday 19 April 2015. The weather was dry with a strong, cold north-east wind and the course in fine condition for so early in the season.
Kirkcudbrightshire got off to a good start in the morning foursomes winning the opening game against Wigtownshire but lost their other three games. Dumfriesshire won their opening two games against Kirkcudbrightshire and halved one game against Wigtownshire and narrowly lost the other. So the teams went into lunch with both Wigtownshire and Dumfriesshire with 2½ points and Kirkcudbrightshire 1 point.
After eight games in the afternoon singles Kirkcudbrightshire had completed all their allotted games and had 2 points, Wigtownshire had 3 points and Dumfriesshire 2 points from four games each. The destination of the trophy rested on the last four games between Wigtownshire and Dumfriesshire. Wigtownshire narrowly won the top game but this was immediately cancelled out by Dumfriesshire winning the second game. With the third game going to Wigtownshire the outcome of the competition rested on the last pairing out on the course. It went to the last green where Stewart Fisher held his nerve to beat Iain Thomson by one hole and the trophy was bound for Wigtownshire for 2015.
