About Us

The South of Scotland Golfer’s Association is made up from the three county Associations in Dumfries and Galloway, namely, Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire.
The South of Scotland Golfers’ Association is affiliated to Scottish Golf Limited and forms the SOUTH AREA of Scottish Golf.

The South of Scotland Golfers’ Association promotes golf in the Region and provides a coordinating forum for its affiliated golf clubs in accordance with its constitution and objectives:

    • To Arrange Area Amateur Championships;
    • To Arrange and run Inter County Matches;
    • To Arrange and run Area Competitions for Players:
      • The South of Scotland Championship;
      • Matchplay Championship;
      • Junior Championship (deferred);
      • Junior Matchplay Championship (deferred);
      • Senior Championship Trophy;
      • Shamash Trophy
      • Champion of Champions Trophy;
    • To Provide coaching for Junior golfers in conjunction with the SGU;
    • To Assist in maintaining a uniform system of handicapping;
    • To Provide a course rating service to the affiliated clubs;
    • To Co-ordinate the fixture list for open competitions held by the affiliated clubs;
    • To co-operates with the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews through the medium of the Scottish Golf.
