Thornhill Golf Club has produced a junior golfer to follow in the footsteps of internationalist Andrew Coltart in sixteen-year-old Taylor Kerr. He has been selected to represent Scottish Schools in the annual match against English Schools at Lancaster Golf Club on Monday 10 September. This is a marvellous honour for Taylor and well deserved. The results from the Douglas Maxwell Memorial Trophy on 2 September have again opened up the race for the Order of Merit 2018. David Brodie (Newton Stewart) had a run-away victory by 7 shots after a marvellous second round of 64 to win the trophy and gain maximum points. This put him in a clear second place behind Douglas Borland (Southerness), who could only finish eighth, and make the Order of Merit a two horse race between them again with two counting events to come.
