NCF SOUTH v CUMBRIA

On Sunday 26 June, a day that started with a watery sun before the clouds came in and rain fell in the afternoon, the South Junior Golf team played their first Northern Counties Federation League match of the summer against their counterparts from Cumbria at Kirkcudbright Golf Club. The course was in immaculate condition and produced some wonderful scoring from both teams with eagles and birdies being the order of the day. GILLESPIE CLASSIC

The Gillespie Classic 4 Ball Better Ball took place on Sunday 19th June 2016 at Brighouse Bay Golf Club. The day was overcast, turning to rain, with the early competitors getting the best of the weather. The course was well presented and the South of Scotland Golfers’ Association is very grateful to Gillespie Leisure for their support and the use of the course. Dumfries and County Golf Club was the stunning venue for this inaugural match between Dumfries & County under 16’s and a select South of Scotland under 16’s. The event was aimed at giving sixteen of our Region’s up and coming golfers the opportunity to experience the team environment and the format of morning foursomes and afternoon singles. SCOTTISH BOYS AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

This year the sixteen Area associations of Scottish Golf descended on Grangemouth Golf Club for their annual Boys Area Team Championships. The Municipal course, situated on the outskirts of the industrial town, was in immaculate condition and a credit to the greenkeeping staff and volunteer members who had worked tirelessly to produce a gem of a course which gained overwhelming praise from all the competitors and officials.
