The Drennan Salver, postponed from Sunday 17 April, has been rescheduled for Saturday 14 May at Portpatrick Golf Club.
The Drennan Salver, scheduled to take place at Portpatrick on Sunday 17 April has been postponed due to a waterlogged course. Arrangements are being made to reschedule.
Twelve boys from South Area took the long road north to Murcar Golf Club, Aberdeen to compete in the Scottish Boys Championship from Monday 4 April to Saturday 9 April. Three of the boys had been drawn to play their first round matches on the Monday, eight on the Tuesday, and one boy had a bye into the second round. The weather throughout the week was strong winds and blustery showers.
Matthew McCulloch (Portpatrick) was the first South boy out on Monday morning and coasted to a 6 & 5 victory. In the second round he again played well to win 7 & 5 but came to grief in his third round when he lost narrowly to a fellow internationalist by 2 & 1. (more…)
Three boys travelled to Catterick Golf Club in North Yorkshire on Friday 8 April to represent the South of Scotland Juniors in the Northern Counties U16/U15/U14 Select against their counterparts from Yorkshire, one of England’s strongest Counties. Catterick Golf Club is a picturesque tree lined course set in the centre of Catterick Garrison and proved a stern test for all the boys.
In the morning foursomes Cameron Gray (Kirkcudbright) and Finlay Copeland (D&G) combined well to win by 1 hole after a superb 3 wood by Cameron to the centre of the last green while Callum McMillan (Kirkcudbright) unfortunately did not gel with his partner and lost by 8 and 6. (more…)
