The South of Scotland Junior team travelled to Newcastle to play Northumberland in a Northern Counties Federation League match at Northumberland Golf Club on Monday 29 July. The heathland course is located within the confines of Newcastle Racecourse and this year was a qualifying venue for the Open Championship. Again in brilliant weather conditions the four semi-finalists teed off at Colvend Golf Club on Friday 19 July to determine who had the stamina to overcome the heat and the skill to become the champion for 2013. The South of Scotland Junior Championships were held at Colvend Golf Club on Thursday 11 July in glorious sunny weather.  The course was in immaculate condition, presented to encourage good scoring., and the 21 boys did not disappoint. In the morning David McCreadie (Newton Stewart) led the way with a par 69 closely followed by Conor Harkness (D&G) and Rory Brunton (Portpatrick) with 71's. NORTHERN COUNTIES FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

The South sent a fairly strong team of eight boys to compete in the Northern Counties Federation Championships at Morpeth Golf Club on Sunday 30 June. The par 71 course was in good condition but the boys had to contend with a strong cross wind on a very tight tree lined layout. This proved too difficult for most of them with only Alex Chalk (D&G) managing to break eighty in both rounds. He had an excellent score of  149, 76 in the morning and 73 in the afternoon.
